Clare Computer Solutions and GCS Logistics Use MSP and Infrastructure Upgrade to Help Attain Company Growth Targets and Higher Profits
GCS Logistics, Inc., located in the East Bay and founded in 1988, began as a drayage services company to importers and exporters in the Bay Area. Since then they have expanded their scope of expertise to include not only drayage but over the road, cross-dock deconsolidation and transloading services in the Bay Area and Pacific Northwest.
Today GSC Logistics offers proactive communication and precision when it comes to their logistics services and a number of major companies are long-term clients.
Jeff Tanner is the Director of Information Technology for GCS Logistics.He has had 33 years experience in the transportation, warehousing and information technology industry and has been a member of the GCS Logistics team for 30 years. He oversees the GSC Logistics multi-site network and manages an application portfolio for each department.
Clare Computer Solutions (CCS) was brought in to discuss some of the performance issues that the company had with their existing technology, as well as to offer their expertise in developing an improved overall engineering plan for the company that would enable them to reach their target growth. “We had a few hurdles to cross getting our CFO on board with an aggressive timeline for handling these technology issues, but eventually we collectively agreed that the time to improve our business had come and we worked with CCS to develop a plan for us to achieve our goals: efficiency, security and higher performance with redundant systems to ensure that our systems would work under any circumstances.
“It took CCS about a year and a half to take our company’s technology infrastructure from where we started to having a technology infrastructure that truly improves our performance and helps our bottom line”, said Tanner. “We are very hands on with our IT, yet we have been a CCS NetCentral (managed services) client for 8 years and this has helped our business tremendously. We feel we have a true partner with CCS and they’ve proven themselves over and over that they deserve our trust.”
CCS is actively involved in the relationship with GCS Logistics. Their network is monitored 24 x 7 and a ticketing system (used by both GSC and CCS) ensures that all issues are addressed quickly. There is a scheduled call every week to discuss any issues that might be cropping up. They receive monthly reports on the overall “health” of their network and CCS works with them annually to plan their IT budget for the coming year.
