The Company

NUVIS Landscape Architecture and Planning is a vibrant, growing firm, celebrating 35 years in business.  They have an excellent reputation in the landscape architecture market, and have worked hard to achieve this.  

The Challenge

As with so many firms in the 21st century, NUVIS depends on their IT infrastructure for many facets of their business. Any time spent resolving problems with that infrastructure directly affects their productivity and ultimately, their bottom line.

NUVIS has offices in three cities in two states, and realized that it was time for a comprehensive network management strategy that would enable them to avoid network problems, rather than just reacting when they occur.

The Solution

Clare Computer Solutions worked with Leslee A. Temple, FASLA, NUVIS’ VP/CFO, to provide an assessment of the overall network, perform the necessary remedial work required to get the network to a stable, supportable condition, and then devise a network management strategy to keep it up and running.

Once the network was ready, the NetCentral implementation went quickly.  Server agents were installed at two of the firm’s locations, and began gathering network data immediately.  Within a week or so,  

Clare’s NOC Engineers were able to set the alerting criteria to accurately detect problem conditions. 

Ms. Temple soon found out how quickly the system was working.  Recently she came into the office and discovered the entire network was down.  She was unable to access any network services. Even before she was able to pick up the phone to call somebody about it, she got a call from Clare Computer Solutions, reporting that we were seeing some connectivity problems.  We also had some information as to what was probably wrong, and when she took a look in the server room, she was able to find where the UPS was unplugged and voila!  The network was back up very quickly.
